A naturally occurring diamond with a distinctly blue body color is considered a "natural blue fancy" diamond. diamonds that have a blue body color in daylight and incandescent light are rare. It is more common to see diamonds that display some light blue color under daylight, these diamonds are known as having a fluorescent quality.

Natural Blue diamonds are very rare indeed and in larger sizes ( over .50ct) become even rarer. Because of their extreme scarcity blue diamonds have become one of the most concentrated forms of wealth on the planet. A blue diamond that shows strong color with intensity and good clarity can run from $40,000 to $80,000 and up per carat (.05ct to .20ct can run $15,000 per carat example: a .05ct blue diamond would cost $750). Paler natural blue diamonds are available for considerably less. Many fine natural colored diamonds have an accompanying "diamond origin report" from one of the major international gem laboratories assuring its natural occurring origin or in other words that it is an unadulterated naturally colored diamond.

An often realistic option is to consider a treated diamond. We can supply to you an Intense Blue Treated Genuine Diamond: .50ct and up for approximately $2600 to $4000 per carat ( for example a .50ct could run $1250 to $2000) for a fine gem.
